From the end of this century to the beginning of the next century, the vast majority of residential buildings in the United States are expected to become part of a widespread digital network. By 2000, 85% of homes in the United States will become cable subscribers, of which about 70% will make use of integrated services networks or two-way wireline services that will provide a wide range of education and hospitality programs, as in Home shopping, bank deposits and on-line use of databases and so on. In the next 30 years, people will make extensive use of the structure of information networks, which will have obvious impacts on the society in the following 12 aspects: 1. The mass media “mass media” show signs of decline. TV audience will be less and less. Radio stations will fill the right market. Newspapers will increasingly lose their influence, with fewer readers and more advertising revenue. Communication networks can make these trends faster, thanks to the communications network
