The Tahe area is one of the important blocks for oil and gas exploration and development in the Northwest Branch of Sinopec Corp. Ordovician is the main producing layer. The physical properties of crude oil vary greatly, and the wax content of crude oil and crude oil show the opposite trend. Northwest Tahe oilfield crude density, but the wax content is relatively low, while the southeast crude oil with a higher wax content. Conventional marine oil that low wax, continental crude oil is characterized by high wax. The Ordovician crude oil from Tahe oilfield is not contradictory to the high-wax characteristics of marine oil source rocks. Research shows that high-wax crude oil is not derived from continental facies, but marine organic matter can also produce crude oil with a high wax content. The high waxy crude oil in Block 9 of the southeastern part of Tahe Oilfield is caused by the combination of multiple “filtration” and evaporation and fractionation.
