To study the surgical management of cataract and lens dislocation in patients with complications of closed-globe injury using lensectomy, vitrectomy and scleral fixation of posterior chamber intraocular lens(PCIOL).Methods 30 patients (31 eyes)of contusion cataract with closed-globe injury were undergone with lensctomy, vetrictomy and scleral fixation of PCIOL.Results Mean follow-up of 10 24 months, postoperative visual acuity of 29 eyes(80 65%)improved to 0 2 or better.Final best-corrected visual acuity was 0 5 or better in 14 eyes(45 16%).Postoperative problems such as traumatic or glaucomatous optic atrophy(2 eyes),cystoid macular edema (1 eye)and amblyopia(1 eye)were noted. Conclusions In patients with cataract after a closed-globe injury undergoing lensectomy, vitrectomy and scleral fixation of PCIOL,a visual acuity improvement may achieve in a majority of them.
