The authors used harmonic analysis to discuss the distribution of dissolved oxygen in the western part of the Taiwan Strait. The annual variation of dissolved oxygen in the seawater was expressed by the Fourier series. In the paper, the components of dissolved oxygen in the surface and the bottom of the Taiwan Strait and in the vertical direction (A_O, A_m and Φ_m). The effects of seasonal fluctuation of different water systems on the trend of dissolved oxygen distribution were also discussed.
