《菊花》是美国作家约翰·斯坦贝克的代表作之一。该小说发表后,备受学界关注。学界从女性主义、文体学、叙事学及象征主义等方面对小说进行了评析,然而由场景入手,分析其寓意的却寥寥无几。因此,本文拟从场景理论探析《菊花》中的环境,主人公情感、道德状态、职业及历史背景四方面,揭示女主人公的内心痛苦及精神追求,暗示男性和女性的不平等地位。
Chrysanthemum is one of the representative works by American writer John Steinbeck. After the publication of the novel, much academic attention. The academic circle reviews the novel from such aspects as feminism, stylistics, narratology and symbolism. However, from the perspective of the scene, there are few analyzes of its meanings. Therefore, this article attempts to reveal the inner pain and spiritual pursuit of the heroine from the perspective of scene theory in four aspects: environment, hero emotion, moral status, occupation and historical background in Chrysanthemum, suggesting the inequality of men and women.
