中东地区在历史上遭遇的技术挑战主要来自欧洲海洋技术的发展、3次技术革命的冲击和殖民主义的入侵。这些挑战导致中东传统的运输和贸易体系中断,中东在世界上的技术竞争力下降,形成以技术为核心的依附型经济。随着全球化和信息时代的到来,中东继而面临新一轮的技术挑战。经过各国的努力,中东地区的技术水平整体上有所提高,但技术滞后的局面并未得到根本改变。要想摆脱这一状态,中东国家必须在以绩效为导向的政治、经济环境和适当的科学政策的前提下,有效管理和利用现有的人力与资源等有利因素,但这需要长期的努力才可能实现。
The technical challenges in the Middle East in history have come mainly from the development of European marine technology, the impact of the three technological revolutions and the invasion of colonialism.
