檇李(亦名醉李),是浙江省桐乡的传统名果。果形圆整略偏,皮包殷红、密缀黄点,外被白粉。形、色兼美。完熟后,果肉柔软多汁。味甜而富清香,品质极上。相传在春秋战国时代已有栽培。历代作为“贡品”,而闻名于世。 檇李品质虽优,但产量很低。一般平均株产量仅7—8斤,高者也不过20多斤,个别最高者也只有50斤左右。根据1936年《浙江各县农产调查》云:“桐乡檇李栽有二百余亩,总产四百余担”。又根据清同治庚午年王岂亭的《檇李谱》论述:“……檇李接后八至九年,每树可得百余枚,十年之后,可得一百五十至二百枚。然此数只记普通结实之数。如遇荒年,则每树所产只寥寥十余枚耳”(1斤为10个左右—作者)。此后,1937
