In 1959, the Qingdao Institute of Agricultural Sciences started a comprehensive study on the early yield test of apple tree seedlings. In 1960, it achieved the yield of 432.07 kg per mu for three years. The test fruit tree was a two-year-old Jin Shuai who was planted in the spring of 1959.
