GIL blood group antigen in 2002 by the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) identified as an independent system antigen, number 029, named GIL. The system has only one antigen, the antigen named GIL1, number 029001. To date, only a few articles have reported this antigen, which is currently known as 36 erythrocyte hematopoietic antigen systems and one of 308 systemic antigens that is less known as a systemic antigen. However, the antigen is a clinically significant antigen that can cause hemolytic hemolysis and neonatal hemolytic disease. This article on the antigens of the latest research progress, summarized as follows.
