朱生豪在贫病交加译莎剧中仙逝,校友虞尔昌替朱生豪了却了心愿。见《世纪》1999年第3期上《首译莎剧的患难夫妻》一文,写的是朱生豪宋清如夫妇翻译、整理莎士比亚剧作一事,但是,朱生豪因病于1944年12月26日去世,未能将莎氏全剧译完。1947年上海世界书局出版的朱生豪生前所译莎氏剧作为27种。译完莎氏包括《约翰王》在内的10部历史剧的是台北大学教授虞尔昌。台北世界书局于1957年出版了朱生豪、虞尔昌
