社会主义核心价值观对社会发展具有引领和规范作用,而生态危机是新的实践向执政党提出的新课题。社会主义核心价值观应能够解决生态问题并融涵生态智慧。从生态视角看,社会主义核心价值观中的“文明”应体现着人类最新的文明形态———生态文明;社会主义核心价值观中的“和谐”应体现为人与自然、人与社会和人与自我的三者和谐;社会主义核心价值观中的“平等”应体现为“人与自然”存在论意义上身份与权利的平等;社会主义核心价值观中的“公正”应体现为“生产性正义”和代际间公正。
