Read Dong Xiaoming’s paintings, have to read the literati painting history. In our opinion, Dong Xiaoming’s painting attitude and artistic style are both an interpretation of the tradition of literati painting. In the book The Taste, Value and Style of Literati Painting, we have pointed out that almost from the beginning of Confucius, Chinese intellectuals often remind themselves, driven by the sense of social responsibility and morality, that when engaging in specific skill operations, We must maintain a cautious attitude of the game, do not indulge them, this is “according to Ren entertainment” and “gentleman not device.” However, when the paintings really entered their lives, they brought such values to them not to be inconvenienced, sometimes even forcing them to retreat. However, Chinese literati, with their excellent artistic wisdom and charisma, have time and again resolved this conflict between ideal and reality and established a system of brush and ink with strict image and technical standards.
