The use of hard-to-use, yet promising, carbon nanotubes to make simple sensor circuits has taken the first step towards practical nano-computer development. Researchers at Stanford University have successfully developed one of the most complicated carbon nanotube circuits to date. At last week’s International Solid-State Circuits Conference in San Francisco, researchers showed handshake robots equipped with sensor interface circuitry. Silicon transistors commonly used in today’s computers are close to their physical limits and the semiconductor industry is looking for alternatives. Carbon nanotubes are one of the most promising alternatives. With silicon
