I. INTRODUCTION “My Antonia” is an ode to a pioneer in the United States. With the memorizing folks as a prototype, Kaiser has created a series of lifelike images of American immigrants from the United States, such as Antony, Jim, Paul and Peter. Their history of struggling on this strange and desolate land in the United States celebrates their hard-working and pioneering spirit. The protagonist of the novel, Antonia, is portrayed as the image of the earthly woman. She loves this desert steppe and loves all her life. She still believes in living a happy life here, even after many suffering. The novel also takes the growth of Antonia as the main line, portraying the first generation of immigrants to create their own homeland in the wasteland
