The production environment for sulfur-containing gas wells in the large Escambia Bay (BEC) gas field in South Alabama, USA consists of 280F, 21% H2S, 40% CO2 and chlorides up to 190,000ppm in the produced water. Seriously corrosive conditions urgently require a corrosion mitigation plan that will allow these wells to be produced safely and economically. This paper describes the basic situation of the corrosion prevention and monitoring program of underground and gas gathering systems, the development of technological research and its achievements. The plan includes: injection of a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor from a toroidal space in the most corroded well to achieve continuous downhole corrosion protection; batch replacement of nitrified oil pipes with oil-soluble corrosion inhibitors in the remaining wells; In the pipeline, a batch process was extended and a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor was continuously injected into the severely eroded wells. The corrosion inhibitor residual product was monitored and a trend graph was drawn to ensure the effectiveness of the downhole treatment and optimize the injection rate ; And export pipeline internal diameter gauge and hydrostatic test to monitor the anticorrosion plan of the gas gathering pipeline. This article also describes computerized methods for designing, calculating, and updating continuous downhole injection systems and nitrification batches. The corrosion prevention and monitoring program was verified to be successful from the achieved tubing life, on-site data on corrosion inhibitor residues, and outlet gauge and bore gauge. The data provided in this article help to design and implement a successful anti-corrosion program for a highly corrosive production environment.
