番木瓜果实瘤状病由于缺硼引起。通过田间施硼防治瘤状病试验和对病株、健株的壮叶、嫩叶、花(子房)、幼果,近成熟果实和种子含硼量的测定,得到肯定的证实。在比较健、病株壮叶、嫩叶、果实的正常值和缺乏值(出现病状时含量)之后,提出:以完全展开的第4~5片壮叶的含硼量作为合理施肥的依据。在20.56~50.74ppm时,植株表现正常。6.53~16.55ppm时,果实发生瘤状病。故当其含硼量在16.55ppm~20.56ppm时、就要即时施用硼肥。 土壤中的全硼量似乎与瘤状病出现关系不大。在水溶性硼肥供应充足的情况下,番木瓜的花(子房)、幼果、近成熟果含硼量均在24(土1)ppm水平。由于香木瓜果实成批迅速发育,为维持果实正常发育,要不断的从外部吸取硼素。当花(子房)、幼果及果实含硼量分别为8.41,9.41和5.16ppm,就会出现果实瘤状病。在植株开花前,每株穴施硼酸或硼砂两克,能有效的预防该病发生。
