莫古沟小流域位于辽宁省阜新市彰武县满堂红乡的东北部,地处科尔沁沙地南沿,属于沙化漫岗区。流域总面积11.27km~2,其中水土流失面积5.13km~2,占总面积的45.5％。该流域为半干旱半湿润气候,多年平均降水量为427.7mm,土壤质地为沙土和沙壤土,有机质含量仅为0.36％,森林覆盖率仅为7.6％,全年六级以上大风69天,水蚀、风蚀兼有,以风蚀为主,沟壑密度为0.51km/km~2,治理前年土壤侵蚀模数为1000t/km~2。 全流域共有人口807人,农业劳力150人,人均耕地0.39hm~2。由于受干旱和严重水土流失的影响,粮食单产只有1725kg/hm~2,人均收入152元,群众的生产和生活水平相当落后,是全乡有名的贫困区。1983年该流域被列为国家重点治理区后,流域内群众根据该
