In 1944, at the time of the Great Counter-offensive on the Anti-Fascist Front, allied expeditionary forces with Eisenhower as commander in chief, after nearly a year of preparations, gathered a great deal of strength in the United Kingdom to prepare for crossing the English Channel and opening up a second battlefield in Europe. The Marshal Rungde and Marshal Rommel, the commander-in-chief of German forces on the southeastern coast of the English Channel, also estimated that allied forces would land, but the two marshals disagreed as to when and where the allied forces might land. Rensted argue that the soldiers rapidly, Allied forces may be landing at the narrowest of the strait near Calais. Rommel intuitively believes that the Allies may land in Normandy. Therefore, it is in urgent need of the German side to explore the Allied plan in order to deploy its troops.
