Although the TCP / IP protocol does not fully comply with OSI’s seven-layer reference model, the four-tiered hierarchy used by the TCP / IP protocol has been the industry standard from the beginning. Transmission Control Protocol TCP is a transport layer protocol in the TCP / IP stack that provides reliable sending of data streams and virtual connection services to applications.
