达甫鼓又名手鼓,是新疆维吾尔族人民最喜爱的打击乐器,被誉为维吾尔乐队中的“灵魂”。它发音清脆响亮,力度变化幅度较大,技巧灵活,携带方便,可以起到烘托各种不同乐曲情绪的作用。人们无论是平时娱乐或婚礼喜庆、赛马叨羊都离不开达甫鼓。每当人们看到维吾尔族的歌舞时,总会听到悦耳清脆的手鼓声。演奏时以左手执鼓,右手击奏,因在击奏时发出“达”和“甫”的不同音响,而称之为“达甫”。这种鼓在敦煌北魏的壁画中已出现
