Materials and method testing was conducted at the Kabete Experimental Station at the University of Nairobi, about 8.5 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, at 1,800 meters above sea level with an average annual rainfall of 925 millimeters with two rainy seasons (April-June and October-December) . The soil is dark red with strong weathered sticky clay, containing more than 60% clay because of its stable microstructure and therefore its loamy soil character, commonly known as red soil.
