Comrade Li Zhiming and Li Ruihua talked about the standards and specific practices of scientific shelving in the article entitled “Scientific Racking” (see “Library Magazine”, No. 2, 1989, hereinafter referred to as “Li Wen” I disagree with some of the views in “Li Wen” and discuss with the author here. As we all know, there are a series of requirements for the shelving of library books. It should facilitate the use of collections; reduce librarians or readers’ inspection in all possible ways, ensure prompt extraction and adoption; arrange the system to be relatively stable; the arrangement of collections should be effective
