3 (β-hydroxyethyl sulfone) aniline hydrogenation reaction with aldehydes in the presence of a catalyst of nickel can be directly prepared 3 (β-hydroxyethyl sulfone) N-ethyl aniline. The intermediates produced by the reaction were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography / mass spectrometry on-line system and the course of hydrogenation and alkylation reaction was studied
