矮化措施利用矮化砧木,方法简便,效果稳定。适于寒地应用的矮化砧木:中小型苹果直立栽可用63—2—19、GM256、63—2—22、G88—1,这几种矮化砧木抗寒力强,在第一、二积温带可露地越冬,在三、四、五积温带需对矮化中间砧段埋土防寒。适于大苹果匍匐栽应用的矮化砧木除上述四种外,还可用OT_3(渥太华3号),M2、M4、M5、M7、M9、M26,P2、P22,6—9等。凡抗寒力与大苹果相近型号的砧木均可应用。
