1999年被评为自治区党员科技致富能手、优秀共产党员；2001年被评为南宁市1998—2000年度优秀共产党员；2002年被评为全国农村学习实践“三个代表”重要思想基层干部标兵、广西先进乡镇企业家；2003年被评为全国农村优秀人才、南宁市“十佳”市民。2002年当选为党的十六大代表。他就是武鸣县城厢镇大皇后村党总支副书记、村委会主任,武鸣县皇后淀粉化工厂厂长,带头致富和带领群众致富的覃贵宗。 1992年以前,大皇后村年人均纯收入不足800元,是出了名的贫困村。覃贵宗带头致富改变贫穷落后面貌。
