最近,由美国著名的中国人口问题专家鲍思顿教授与他人主编的《当代中国人口》一书(美国丰盛出版社,1992)面世引起多方的广泛关注与兴趣。该书收录了80年代以来陆续在海外发表的重要的有关中国人口问题研究的论文与报告,共23篇。原作者中除有为我国人口学界所熟知的美国一些著名的专家、学者,如哥德斯坦、葛苏姗、邦加斯、赵利济等人外,还收录了我国老一代社会学家费孝通,以及中青年人口学家曾毅等人的代表作品。另外由李慕真等我国一批学者合著的,由美国麦克米伦公司出版的《新中国人口》一书中的部分章节也被收录该书中。当然书中还有多篇是鲍思顿教授本人及其与他的同事或学生合著的学术论文,其中关于中国的独
