In this paper, the levels of monoamine neurotransmitters in 30 children with hyperactivity disorder (MBD) were analyzed and compared with those of mentally retarded children (MR). The results showed that the content of catecholamine (CA) in MBD group was significantly higher than that in normal children, but the level of serotonin in MBD group was significantly lower than that in normal children. Compared with MR group, the catecholamines in MBD group were significantly higher than those in MR group , But its metabolite 5-oxoacetic acid was significantly higher than the MR group. It is suggested that the metabolism of MBD catecholamines is active and may be the cause of over-action in children, while the CA of MBD and MR shows the opposite trend, which is the reflection of excitement and inhibition of different disorders in the neuronal transmission of information. MBD5- Serotonin system metabolic characteristics may lead to children’s attention is not focused, easy to impulse one of the reasons.
