The postal reform in the United Kingdom, marked by the advent of the Penny Stamp in 1840, reduced the postage and made it easier for the general public. However, people still have to go far in order to deliver their mail and send the letter to the sending office. Sometimes they even have to go a few miles away to vote. In order to solve this problem, a street postal box has emerged. 2002 is the 150th anniversary of the opening of the first British postbox in the capital of Jersey, Saint Helier (pictured - Jersey Sheet). November 1852, in Saint Helier set up four postbox as a trial. The initiative comes from the famous satirical writer Anthony Trollope, who was also a post office clerk.
