According to statistics from the US Census Bureau, in May 2009, about 532,000 private homes in the United States started construction, an increase of 17.2% from the previous quarter and a decrease of 45.2% from the same period of previous year. Meanwhile, the number of real estate licenses issued this month was 518,000, up 4.0% from the previous month and down 47% from the same period of last year.
