By the China Rare Earth Society and Japan Rare Earth Society jointly sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry hosted the first Sino-Japanese bilateral Rare Earth New Materials Symposium on September 25, 2003 to 28 held in Changchun. Representatives of the participants from the domestic and Japan famous institutions engaged in rare earth research, including the Chinese Academy Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Peking University, Beijing Nonferrous Metal Research Institute, Shandong University, China University of Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun Institute of Optics and Physics , Japan’s Osaka University, Kyushu University, Toyohashi Institute of Technology more than 40 units, including Chinese representatives 112
