It is known that TPN causes bacterial translocation due to intestinal mucosal atrophy and its barrier disruption. However, animal transients in TPN are not consistently found to be bacterial translocations, and perhaps intestinal permeability changes are one of the factors. Take Sprague-Dawlee male rats for experiment, respectively, from the right internal jugular vein infusion of TPN nutrition, from the stomach fistula for gut, ligation of the jugular vein or simple gastrostomy and repair surgery as a dummy.
