The study of the relationship between Chinese Buddhism and literature has not been the mainstream of Buddhist studies or Chinese literature. However, Buddhism can not be evaded in the aspects of Chinese literary theory, literary content and literary skills. In December 1999, Anhui Education Publishing House published Tan Guilin’s book “Chinese Literature and Buddhism in the 20th Century”, which is the first time that the domestic academic circles have comprehensively and systematically discussed the relationship between Chinese literature and Buddhism in the 20th century. Today, Anhui Education Press again publishes Tan Guilin’s book The History of Modern Chinese Buddhist Literature, combing and analyzing the historical development of the 1930-195th Buddhist literature from the success of the 1911 Revolution to the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949
