白音查干油田位于二连盆地白音查干凹陷西洼,油藏具有以下特点:①油藏埋深浅,含油层位多,单层厚度薄,油藏面积小、储量小;②反向屋脊式断层形成的断块圈闭是主要的油藏类型;③层状油藏、多套油水系统是白音查干油田油水分布的主要特点;④地层平缓、含油高度低、含油饱满程度低;⑤中孔中渗是白音查干油田储层物性的基本特征;⑥储层岩石弱亲水;⑦储层岩石敏感性特征表现为中等偏弱;⑧原油黏度低,凝固点低,地层水矿化度偏高。对勘探的意义在于寻找有利构造,滚动勘探;对油田开发的意义在于如何完善注采井网,控制边水推进。
