This paper presents the design and evaluation of a neonatal skin surface temperature monitor when the temperature sensor becomes inaccurate. Use a standard clinical thermistor probe to test skin surface temperature. The thermal loss characteristics of the probe are measured every 4.5 minutes to assess its thermal contact with the skin. A 6.1-mA high, 14-second wide thermal pulse is applied to the thermistor to measure the temperature rise of the sensor.
