中原解放区以河南省桐柏地区为中心,纵横数百里,地处长江、淮河、黄河、汉水之间,横跨平汉铁路,南临武汉,北近许昌、洛阳,东接合肥,西连襄樊、南阳。中共部队雄据中原,就像一把利刀插在蒋家王朝的心腹之中,对蒋介石发动全面内战,战略上极为不利。因此,蒋介石把全面内战的突破口选择在这里。
Central Plains Liberated Area in Henan Province, Tongbai area as the center, hundreds of miles and meters, is located in the Yangtze River, Huaihe River, Yellow River, between Han River, across the Pinghan Railway, south of Wuhan, Xuchang near the north, Luoyang, east Hefei, west Even Xiangfan, Nanyang. The communist forces, based on Central Plains, are like a knife inserted in the hearts of the Chiang Kai-shek dynasty and launched an all-out civil war against Chiang Kai-shek, which is extremely disadvantageous in strategy. Therefore, Chiang Kai-shek chose to make a breakthrough in the comprehensive civil war here.
