Objective To grasp the status quo of infectious diseases reporting by medical units in hardest hit areas after Wenchuan Earthquake of May 12, which will provide a scientific basis for the next step in managing the reporting of infectious diseases in disaster areas. Methods The data of infectious diseases in 18 severely affected counties (cities) were sourced from the National Direct Network Infectious Diseases Reporting System, and questionnaires were used to investigate the disastrous situation and current situation of network systems of infectious diseases in all counties (cities). Before and after the earthquake using their own comparative analysis. Results The coverage rate of pre-disaster infectious diseases in 18 earthquake-hit counties (cities) was 100%, that of direct online reporting was 84.79% and that of online reporting was 65.95%. In the early stages of the disaster (2008-05-12 / 21) The coverage rate of reported disease was about 20%, the network reported rate was 17.69% and the number of reported cards dropped by 60.53% over the same period of last year. In the early post-disaster recovery period (2008-05-22 / 31), the coverage of infectious disease reports was about 80% The report rate was 31.57%, the number of reported cards dropped by 37.74% over the same period of last year, of which 36.13% of the reported total number of mobile phone reports and 29.60% of the total number of mobile phone cards reported by mobile phones; at the end of post-disaster recovery period (2008-06-01 / 07- 31). All the reporting units resumed the reporting of infectious diseases. Among them, 55.37% were directly reported by the network, 26.12% were mobile phones and 18.51% were reported on behalf of the agencies. The reported rate of infectious diseases was 59.67%, and the number of reported cards dropped compared with the same period of last year 53.69%. Among them, the mobile phone report accounted for 28.70% of the total number of reporting units, and the number of mobile phone reported cards accounted for 10.95% of the total number of cards. Conclusion After the earthquake, the infectious disease reporting systems of medical units in 18 severely affected counties (cities) were severely damaged. As of July 31, the data showed that their functions have basically recovered, and the reporting rates in some counties have risen more than those before the earthquake. The ability to recover is still a gap.
