Since the reform and opening up, the open economy in Zhejiang Province has been developing rapidly. Among them, a bright spot is the geometric multiples of foreign direct investment growth. Since the establishment of the first foreign-invested enterprise in the province in 1980, 16,697 foreign-invested enterprises have been actively participating in foreign investment in 1999, with contractual foreign investment of 21.957 billion U.S. dollars and actual utilized foreign investment of 9.887 billion U.S. dollars. Foreign direct investment has had a huge impact on the national economy of Zhejiang Province. Its role is mainly reflected in the following aspects: 1. The introduction of a large amount of foreign investment has made up for the shortage of funds for economic construction. Since the reform and opening up, Zhejiang Province has actually collected a total of 9.887 billion U.S. dollars of foreign investment, equivalent to 64% of the total fixed asset investment of 128.4 billion yuan in the province in 1999. The introduction of foreign capital has enabled a number of infrastructure projects and production projects that have not been launched for a long time due to capital constraints.
