The 2005 edition of the “Chinese Pharmacopoeia” stipulates that the white peony is an umbelliferae Angelica dahurica (Fisch.exHoffm.)Benth.et Hook.f. or A.dahurica (Fisch.ex Hoffm.) Benth.et. Dry root of Hook.f.var.for-mosana (Boiss.) Shan et Yuan. White peony has the effect of dispersing wind, removing dampness, removing phlegm, removing pain, swelling and pus, and is often used to treat diseases.
