简.奥斯汀描写18世界英国乡绅阶级有闲有钱的家庭,一个小镇的三四户人家嫁女儿的悲欢离合就撑起了她所有故事的血肉。在20世纪的中国,同样也有一位女性作家在她的短篇小说里写尽中国女人悲欢婚嫁梦。东西方两位女作家奥斯汀与张爱玲笔下的女性形象表现出诸多的共同点。
Jane Austen portrays the wealthy families of 18-nation British gentry class, and the joys and sorrows of 34 or so families of a small town marrying her daughter hold up the flesh and blood of all her stories. In China in the 20th century, there is also a woman writer who writes about the Chinese woman’s bitter marriage and marriage dream in her short story. The female images written by both eastern and western women writers Austin and Eileen Chang show many similarities.
