Since 1973,we have been restoring the ancient to early modem mechanical devices as one of the reseach activities involving students.We decided to reconstruct a few kinds of power plants(some sorts of water wheel and windmill,Watt’s steam engine),clocks and watches(sundial,water clock,machine clock),KARAKURI(Automata)and others.The products of these activities were used us teaching aids in classes of“History of Technology”. Moreover,these machines were exhibited in and out of our campus annualy.This report discussed the usefulness of building such machines for deepen understanding of the students and of the public.
