In the first quarter of this year, the company’s sales volume is still declining although the selling price of hardware is further reduced. The reason for this is the redistribution of IT resources, the lack of a new operating system, and the lackluster growth in demand for processors and other client hardware. Carl Asshkin, president of Darby Group Inc., a key customer at Compaq, said: “We’ve reached a rare point of market saturation where many people even upgrade their desktops because of the cost of handling the year 2000. We’re spending more Infrastructure rather than hardware. ”Statistics also reflect this phenomenon.
