At the end of 1959, the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee instructed the Xinhua Daily to raise even higher the red flag of Mao Zedong Thought and further improve the political quality of propaganda and reporting. For more than two months, according to the instructions of the provincial party committee, comrades of the newspaper editorial department have focused on examining more than a year’s work in industrial and agricultural production, culture, education and other aspects of reporting so as to further raise the awareness of studying and propagandizing Mao Zedong’s thinking. One of the issues is a clear understanding of some issues, that is, the great significance of propagating Comrade Mao Tse-tung’s continuous revolutionary thinking.
