In the first issue of Science American in 2007, Bill Gates wrote an article: “Every family has a robot.” He predicted to the world that robots will be the next hot area after personal computers. At the same time, Bill Gates also mentioned that the current robot industry is facing many challenges, how to establish a unified standard and platform, how to reduce the hardware cost, and how to develop new software, which are all issues to be considered. In order to give readers a full understanding of giants ’ideas, we compile Bill Gates’ article and hope to discuss the development of the robot industry with everyone.
