孙叔敖,春秋时楚国人。小时候,他出去玩耍,路遇一条双头蛇。那蛇昂首翘尾,很是吓人。孙叔敖见到此蛇,脸色苍白,头发都竖了起来,因为当时有一种流传:遇上双头蛇的人,不久就会死去。孙叔敖感到厄运就要到来,非常恐慌;但他又想,既然自己活不成了,就不要让别人再见这不祥之物,于是他用石头把蛇砸死,并把它埋了起来。孙叔敖心情非常不好,像喝醉酒一样踉踉跄跄地回到家里,一头扑到母亲的怀里放声大哭。母亲很奇怪,忙问他出了什么事?孙叔敖说
