“清初四僧”是指活动于明末清初的弘仁、髡残、八大山人、石涛四人。他们的书画以先贤为师,兼容并蓄,既继承优秀的绘画传统,又主张抒发个性和创造力,在实践中不断求真、求变。四人虽艺术风格各异,但基于他们坎坷曲折的生活经历,因此他们的书画作品大多具有强烈、真挚的感情色彩,不但个性鲜明,而且艺术面貌独特新颖,极富艺术内涵。他们的艺术特色对清代乃至近现代、当代书画产生了巨大而深远的影响,形成了一大批以“四僧”为师的书画家群体。
“Four monks in early Qing ” refers to the activities in the late Ming and early Qing Hongren, disability, Badals Hill, Shi Tao four. Their calligraphy and painting as a teacher, inclusive, both inherited the fine tradition of painting, but also advocate the expression of individuality and creativity, in practice constantly truth-seeking, and change. Although the four people have different artistic styles, based on their twists and turns of life experience, most of their paintings and calligraphies have strong and sincere feelings and colors. They not only have distinct personalities, but also have unique artistic features and artistic connotations. Their artistic features have a tremendous and far-reaching impact on the Qing Dynasty and even modern and contemporary calligraphy and painting. A large number of calligraphers groups headed by the “Four Monks” were formed.
