小说《基姆》是著名作家吉卜林的得意之作,吉卜林凭借该作品在1907年时,获得了诺贝尔文学奖,至今小说《基姆》仍然在文学史上有着举足轻重的地位,是一本极具影响力的作品。小说讲述了两位主人公,基姆和西藏喇嘛为了各自的愿望,结伴云游印度的故事。文章通过塑造西藏喇嘛和基姆之间建立起师徒、朋友和父子的关系,并进一步阐述了两位主人翁之所以形成这样特殊关系的原因,从小说的侧面表现出作者对东西方人能友好相处,东西方文明能相互融合的一种理想状态的愿望,同时,帝国主义的优越感在作品中不是浮现出来,流露出作者矛盾的思想。
