Objective: The purpose of this article is to investigate the relationship between the size of the ossification center and the age of the lower limbs in juveniles, and to provide basis for forensic diagnosis of the age of death based on the skeleton. Methods: A total of 882 X - ray films of shoulders, elbows and wrists were taken from 294 children and adolescents between the ages of 1 and 15 years. The maximal diameter of each ossification center was measured on the X - ray film with a straight foot. Results: The size of the ossification center of the humeral head, the humeral head, the upper and lower ends of the radius, the lower ulna and other parts of the ulna increased with age and were positively correlated. CONCLUSION: This study confirms that there is a definite relationship between the age of ossification centers and upper limb ossification centers in children and adolescents. It also provides a basis for forensic doctors to infer the age based on the size of the ossification center and accumulates data for anthropological studies.
