Background: cytridinitriphosphatis (CTP) is mainly used for the treatment of cerebrovascular accident and its sequelae, concussion, cerebrovascular sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease, etc. What is the effect of this medicine on diabetic peripheral neuropathy? To observe the effect of CTP on neurological function in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy and to evaluate the effect of the drug and neuroelectrophysiology. Design: A pilot study of prospective, randomized, controlled design of patients. Unit: Fourth Military Medical University Hospital Endocrinology Ward. PARTICIPANTS: Fifty patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy hospitalized in Department of Endocrinology, Xijing Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University from September 1999 to February 2000 were enrolled in this study. Fifty patients with standardized peripheral neuropathy were included, 28 males and 22 females. Fifty patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group of 25 cases, all with informed consent. Methods: 25 cases of treatment group with CTP60mg added saline 100mL vitamin D, 1 / d. Control group, 25 cases with vitamin B1100mg and vitamin B12500μg, 1 / d, scopolamine (654-2) 20mg added saline 100mL vitamin D, 1 / d, treatment were 14d. Nerve conduction velocity is measured by the surface electrode. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Rate of limb nerve conduction in two groups. Results: After treatment with CTP for 14 days, the conduction velocity of the median nerve, ulnar nerve, common peroneal nerve and tibial nerve in both upper extremities and lower extremities was significantly higher in the treatment group than that in the control group (P <0.05 ~ 0.01). Neurological symptoms and neurological symptom score (1.4 ± 0.5,3.0 ± 0.5) were significantly lower in the treatment group than those in the control group (2.6 ± 0.3, 4.0 ± 0.3) (t = 3.255, 2.005, P < 0.05). Conclusion: Triphosphorus?
