在鲁子惠先生百岁寿辰之际,我再次重复我经常说过的一句话:鲁先生永远是我的老师,不仅是科研工作上他是我的启蒙老师;在卫生长寿之术方面,也是我学习的榜样.很少有人知道,即使鲁先生自己也许未曾意识到:是他启发我走上了科学研究的道路,也是他的帮助我在神经系统电生理学上迈出了第一步,请允许我趁这个机会来谈一谈这个六十多年前的旧事,以表示我对鲁先生的崇敬与感激之情.那是在1933年,我正在北京大学心理系读四年级的时候,北大从广州中山大学请来了汪敬熙先生,任北大的研究教授.“研究教授”是只做研究工作,而不上课教书的.他和他同来的助教鲁子惠先生天天关在实验室里做研究工作,和学生们没有任何接触,我和几个要好的同学们出于好奇心,想知道他们究竟在那里干些什么,但又不敢冒昧地闯进去惊动教授,只好趁教授不在的时候溜进实验室,去请教他的助教鲁子惠先生.
