新婚之夜,是夫妻组成家庭的开端,也从此开始有了性生活。长期以来,青年男女缺乏关于性的知识,即使有人了解一些生殖生理学的知识,也往往是一知半解。加上流传在社会上的一些封建迷信说法,新婚夫妻在洞房之夜茫然失措,不少人甚至顾虑重重。因此,开展婚前检查,由医生对即将结婚的青年男女做些性生活指导,讲解些生殖生理方面的知识,帮助青年过好新婚之夜是十分必要的。
